The advantage of green tire with its high performance has been praised by the favor of people. Tire industry is mainly engaged in looking for the balance of the rolling resistance, the wet resistance and abrasion resistance. In this paper, we added gelatinized starch to the silica/SBR composite and the performance of the composite was studied.Different from the traditional heating means, this topic prepared the gelatinized starch in microwave heating way. This way can effectively shorten time to obtain gelatinized starch of higher concentration, and to simplify the process of preparation. The effects of gelatinized starch on the properties of the composites were studied. Results showed that, the crystalline structure of starch had been damaged, after microwave gelationgzation. Comparing to the original starch/silica/SBR composite, the decrease of t10and t90the improvement of mechanics, the low rolling resistance and the high wet resistance were confirmed that the gelatinized starch can interact with silica, improving the performance of the rubber composite. In this paper we also studied the effect of the microwave time and concentration of gelatinized starch on the starch modified silica/SBR composite. Results showed that heating in a500W microwave for2min was the optimum condition for starch gelatinization. Starch concentration has a greate influence on the performance of the compodsite, when the concentration of starch was15%, vulcanized rubber had lower internal friction at low strain and higher internal friction at high strain accroding the requirements completely. And we know that when the concentration of starch is15%, the performance of the composite is excellent by the results of the DMA. Then, the effects of content of gelatinized starch on the starch modified silica/SBR composite were studied, when the content of the gelatinized starch was6phr,100%and300%stress at definite elongation of the vulcanized rubber was increased by37%, this phenomenon illustrated that gelatinized starch reinforced the rubber with silica at the same time and the Thermo rise was minimal.Under the best conditions, this topic studied the effect of the different types of gelatinized starch on silica/SBR. composite. By comparing the results we find that regardless of the type, gelatinized starch can improve the rolling resistance, wet resistance and wear resistance of the composite, but the role of the glutinous rice starch is more obvious.
