The coarse concentrate of sulphur concentration system in fankou lead-zinc minewas treated as the research object, hydrocyclones of different cone angle were used toseparate the coarse concentrate, hoping to find a gro up of optimal structuralparameters of the hydrocyclone, suitable for the separation of the coarse concentrate.Based on the above, firstly the simulation study of hydrocyclone was carried out.Respectively three groups of hydrocyclones of different cone angle as the models, thepurified water simulation and particle simulation were carried out, and hydrocyclonesof different cone angle of velocity and pressure distribution were obtained. Thesecondary flow and density distribution were analyzed in detail, so we can explain theseparation behavior of hydrocyclones of different cone angle better.Secondly,the orthogonal experiment of big cone angle hydrocyclones wasdesigned. The factors of the experiment:the cone angle、the diameter of the overflowpipe the diameter of grit mouth and length of overflow pipe. By the variance analysisof orthogonal experiment,we can find the order of factor which influences the gradeand recovery. At the same time,we alse can find that the big cone angle cyclone cannot separate the coarse concentrate efficiently, this research is the same as thesimulation results.Finally, we conducted the single factor experiment about10degrees and thecompound hydrocyclone, and the sulfur grade is not less than46.5%as the base, atlast the best structure parameters of each group were found. We choose the compoundhydrocyclone as the equipment of separation, and enlarge the cyclone, successfullyapplied in sulphur concentration system in fankou,achieving good economic results.Combining the simulation and the experiment,the results show that the smallcone angle cyclone is the better separation equipment for separating of the coarseconcentrate. This is completely different from the traditional understanding that bigcone angle cyclone is good for gravity separation.Meanwhile, the simulation canbetter guide the use of the hydrocyclone.
