With the rapid development of national economy, the demand for rubber productsin all walks of life is growing, not only on quantity but on quality. Rubber mixing isthe process that rubber or plastic rubber can be mixed with various compoundingagents homogeneously by mechanical action. It is the first step of rubber productsprocessing, and also is the most important one. That’s because the quality of mixingrubber directly affects the final quality of the rubber products. Up to now, rubbermixing equipments mainly include open mill and mixer. Regardless of the type of themixing equipments, rubber in the mixing process is mainly subject to shear action andtensile action. Due to the different method and equipment in the mixing, the resultsoccur differ. The author has consulted large number of domestic and foreign related literatureand patents about rubber mixing, and collected information related to rubber mixing. On this basis, the author has carried on the preliminary discussion and the comparisonthrough the experiments for the current commonly mixing method and the mechanismand process of mixing equipment. In this paper, the main work and achievement of thisdissertation are as follows:(1)Through consulting a large number of domestic and foreign literature, theauthor has carried on the study and research on the mixing process and mechanism ofopen mill, mixer, tandem type mixer, and a method of mixing in low temperature.(2)Based on the POLYFLOW software, the simulations have been analyzed inmixing process including open mill and mixer. There are some concluded in themixing process including the shear rate distribution, mixed exponential distribution, the velocity vector field and so on, and it is also concluded that the size of the average shear rate and average index.(3)The orthogonal experiments L25(56)are designed for5levels and6factors forthe tandem type mixer in the mixing experiment. Through the analysis of theexperimental data, the optimal process parameters in the mixing process of the tandemtype mixer has been found: Upstream of the filling coefficient is0.7; Pressure of theram pressure is0.9MPa; Upstream of the rotor rotating speed is90r/min; Downstreamof the rotor rotational speed is80r/min; Upstream of the cooling water temperature is70℃; Downstream of the cooling water temperature is50℃.(4)Under the optimum parameters of mixing methods, the author has designeddifferent experiment schemes under control variable method of the mixing methods.Only to control the rotate speed and roller spacing of open mill, the rotate speed ofmixer, the rotate speed of tandem type mixer and the rotate speed of open mill andmixer in a method of mixing in low temperature, achieve the purpose of changingshear rate and mixing index in the mixing process, and carry on a number ofexperiments.(5)On the basis of the experiments, the experimental data of each kind of mixingmethod have been analyzed by using SPSS software, and the conclusion has beencome to that variables affect the performance of mixing rubber in the four kinds ofmixing method.(6) With hybrid index and shear rate as independent variables, set up engineeringmathematical model of Mooney viscosity and dispersion in the four kinds of mixingmethod. By horizontal comparison of the models, it has concluded the equivalentmixing relations between different mixing method. And then carry on experimentalverification.
