Because of a series of excellent physical and chemical properties as well as resins, fibers, textiles, cosmetics, detergent and inks applications, poly(oxyalkylene)polymeric dyes have become the most active research areas on inks, especiallywater-based inks. Development of macromolecule poly(oxyalkylene) polymeric dyeinks will have important partical significance for domestic water-based inksdevelopment. In this paper, N,N-dihydroxyethylaniline and N,N-dihydroxyethyl-meta-methyl-aniline were selected as raw materials to react with ethylene oxide to havesynthesized to six polyether intermediates {polyoxyethyleneaniline15EO(AR-15),20EO(AR-20),25EO(AR-25) and polyoxyethylene-meta-methylaniline15EO(ARC-15),20EO(ARC-20),25EO(ARC-25)}, for preparation of thepoly(oxyalkylene) polymeric dyes. Also, the structures of intermediates weredetermined by IR,1H NMR and ESI-MS.ARC-15, ARC-20and ARC-25were employed, as intermediates to react with H-acid monosodium salt diazonium salt, to prepare three magenta (M-15, M-20, M-25)polyoxyethylene azo dyes; AR-15, AR-20and AR-25were employed, as intermediatesto react respectively with Aniline diazonium salt and Benzaldehyde-2,4-disulfonicacid disodium salt, to prepare three yellow (Y-15, Y-20, Y-25) polyoxyethylene azodyes and three Cyan(C-15, C-20, C-25) polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes. Thestructures of nine dyes were determined by IR and ESI-MS. In this particle, thesynthesis conditions of were studied in detail. In synthesizing the magenta dyes, thetemperature of coupling reaction at5-10℃, the pH value of coupling reaction was5.0-6.0, whereas that in preparation of the yellow dyes were at0-10℃,4.0-6.0. Thediazo reaction temperature of the magenta dyes and the yellow dyes were both at0-10℃. The optimal condition for the synthesis of the Cyan dyes were obtained:condensation reaction at100℃for3h; K2FeO4was employed as oxidant, oxidationreaction at90℃for3h. The yield polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes were above85%.By loss of water to study poly(oxyalkylene) polymeric dye moisturing properties, the relationship between the surface tension of polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes andcontent were studied by ZL-2Automatic Interface Tensiometer, and by the UV-visspectra analysis the relationship between optical properties and the structure ofpolyoxyethylene polymeric dyes, the results show that:(1)The dyes have goodmoisturizing effect owing to a large number of hydrophilic group-hydroxyl in themolecular structure. As the growth of the hydrophilic chain-ethoxy, the dyesmoisturizing effect will fall because hydroxyl are packaged by molecular chain whichlead to hydroxyl of water can be reduced. The dyes(20EO) moisturizing effect is excellent, and its containing solfonic group(C,M) is better than no containing solfonicgroup(Y).(2)The higher surface tension of polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes solutionwith the growther ethyoxyl chain. As the polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes contentincreases, the surface tension of the dyes solution firstly falling fast, then slowly, finally tends to balance. The surface tension of the dyes C and M with solfonic groupis higher than that the dyes Y no containing solfonic group.(3)As the growth of theethoxy chain, polyoxyethylene polymeric dyes maximum absorption wavelengthalmost unchange, but its molar extinction coefficient decreases. The different structureof the three dyes Y, M, C that the maximum absorption wavelength redshift in turn. The colorful red, blue, green, black water-based ballpoint pen ink and the blackwet erasable water-based ink which has been widely demanded in the market, prepared by the optimum performance C-20, Y-20and M-20dyes. This paper, thewater-based ballpoint pen with moisture retention, writing, stain resistance,no-capping performance and the factors affecting the black erasable water-based inkwet wipe and their preparation technology were discussed. The experiment displayedthat the water-based ballpoint ink with excellent moisturing properties, writing fluency, good stain resistance and it’s easily washable from the skin and clothes, and weterasable ink with superior wet erasable performance.
