Silicone resin has excellent heat resistance,weather resistance,high wear resistance,etc.It can play an important role in many engineering fields.Despite these bright aspects,organic silicone resin also has some disadvantages,such as high curing temperature,poor chemical corrosion resistance,mechanical strength and adhesion,and bad compatibility with other resins.Hence modifying organic silicone resin to meet the requirements of coating is particularly significant.In this paper,the bio-based furan resin modified silicone resin can improve its heat resistance,corrosion resistance and adhesion performance without reducing the excellent performance of silicone resin.A coating composed by Methyl Phenyl Silicone and furan resin?PSi/FR blend coating?is made and curing mechanism,heat resistance and corrosion properties are investigated.The results show that an aldol condensation reaction between furan and methyl phenyl silicone occurs below 200?and a self-polydehydrogenation of methyl phenyl silicone occurs above200?.These curing reactions give the blends coating the excellent thermal stability and anticorrosion properties.Comparing with pure methyl phenyl silicone resin,blends contain less than 20wt%furan resins have a better thermal property,that is 5%weight loss temperature of the cured product is higher than 390?and the char yield at 800?is higher than 40%.As a coating,the adhesion property of cured blends system on the metal surface reaches the first level which is higher than that of the pure methyl phenyl silicone resin coating?the third level?.Furthermore,the corrosion resistances of coating in acid,alkali and salt environment have all been improved compared with that of the monomeric polymer coating.The impedance of the blend coating in 3.5%NaCl solution decreases with the increase of furan content,and the impedance value is 1.8×106?cm2 when the furan content is40%,which is higher than that of the pure methyl phenyl silicone coating?7.12×105?cm2?.This is mainly due to the formation of a cross-linked network structure based on Si-O-C bond and an enhancement in adhesion of the cured coating blend.In addition,the surface roughness?RZ?of the cured blend coating can reach to less than 2.0?m.Furan/Methyl Silicone Resin blend coating was prepared by spraying method.Studying the curing reaction mechanism,compatibility,heat resistance,electrochemical property,adhesion,anti-corrosion property and surface roughness of the blend system.The results show that the hydroxaldehyde condensation reaction of furan and methyl silicone resin a self-polydehydrogenation of methyl silicone resin occur at 160?.And the compatibility of the blend system is excellent.Comparing with pure methyl silicone resin,with the increase of furan content,the thermal property of the blends decreased.However,that is 5%weight loss temperature of the cured product is higher than 300?and the char yield at 800?is higher than 70%.When the content of furan resin is higher than 5%,the adhesion property of cured blends system on the metal surface reaches the first level which is higher than that of the pure methyl phenyl silicone resin coating?the third level?.Furthermore,the impedance of the blend coating in 3.5%NaCl solution decreases with increasing furan content,and the impedance value is 1.62×104?cm2 when the furan content is 5%,which is higher than that of the pure methyl phenyl silicone coating?1.29×104?cm2?.The corrosion resistances of coating in acid,alkaliis is better than that of monomer polymer coating.In addition,the surface roughness?RZ?of the cured blend coating can reach to less than 2.0?m.The mesoporous SiO2/Furan/Methyl Silicone Resin blend coating was prepared by spraying method,studying the curing reaction mechanism,heat resistance,adhesion,electrochemistry,contact angle with water,corrosion resistance and surface roughness of the blends.The results show that the hydroxaldehyde condensation reaction of furan and methylsilicone resin a self-polydehydrogenation of methyl silicone resin occur at 160?.Comparing with MSi/PSi-5 resin system,the thermal property of the blends decreased.However,that is 5%weight loss temperature of the cured product is higher than 250?and the char yield at 800?is higher than 69%.The adhesion property of cured blends system on the metal surface reaches the first level which is higher than that of the MSi/PSi-5 resin coating?the second level?.The impedance of the blend coating in 3.5%NaCl solution increases with increasing mesoporous SiO2 content,and the impedance value is 1.27×106?cm2,which is higher than that of the MSi/PSi-5 resin coating?1.62×104?cm2?.Additionally,when the content of mesoporous SiO2 is 14%,the contact angle between the blend coating and water reaches 155.6°which is 70.6°higher than that of MSi/PSi-5 blend coating and water.After salt spray corrosion,the surface of the blend coating has no corrosion trace,its corrosion-resistant property is better than that of MSi/PSi-5 blend coating,and the hydrophobic and super hydrophobic properties of the corroded blend coating are restored after washing and heating.The morphology of the blend coating remained intact under acidic conditions,and its acid resistance was superior to that of MSi/PSi-5 blend coating,but not alkali-resistant.Furthermore,the surface roughness of the cured coating is less than 25?m.The industrial coating formulation of Furan/Methyl Phenyl Silicone resin was investigated based on testings including the heat resistance,corrosion resistance,adhesion and surface roughness of coating.The results show that the 5%weight loss temperature of the cured product is higher than 350?and the char yield at 800?is higher than 40%.The blend coating exhibits an excellent corrosion in acids,alkali and salt solution,with the adhesion and surface roughness less than 2?m.
