This paper put forward the integrated optimization idea of tolerance design and process route on the basis of the domestic and abroad related research, then the integrated optimization mathematical model is put forward and the simulation system is built finally. The main research works include the following aspects:(1) The background, significance and development trends of subject research are summarized, and the important significance is elaborated to further study tolerance design and process route.(2) In this work, the key technologies of concurrent tolerance optimization has been researched, and concurrent tolerance optimization model is established. The minimum manufacturing cost was used as the optimization goal, and the assembly function requirement and machining capability are given as the restriction conditions of the model. Bevel gear is applied as an example to verify the effectiveness of the established model and algorithm. It is also demonstrated that the concurrent optimization method exist some disadvantages, and it is necessary to further study the concurrent tolerance design.(3) In this work, the integrated optimization idea of tolerance design and process route are put forward, the key technologies has been researched to prove the feasibility of integrated optimization. Then the integrated optimization mathematical model is proposed. In the integrated optimization model, the minimum manufacturing cost considering the processing factors is used as the objective function, and three restriction conditions are considered, which are assembly function requirement, machining methods and economically machining accuracy. Lastly, the TOMLAB toolbox is used to find the solution to the gear assembly model. The effectiveness of this model is proved through the obtaining of satisfactory results.(4) The graphical user interface and the corresponding simulated system are built with the application of GUIDE under the MATLAB environment. The integrated optimization system has the advantages of simple operation and good commonality, which solved the problem of programming difficult and error-prone, reduced the design circle, manufacturing cost and burden of designer. Has a certain theoretical and practical significance to promote the implementation of concurrent engineering and CAD/CAPP/CAM integration.
