Six Sigma management originated in Motorola and was developed in General Electric. During the decade1987-1997of implementation Six Sigma management, Motorola had made remarkable performance. Six Sigma management has been promoted and implemented greatly in General Electric since the end of1995, which made a comprehensive and significant performance improvement results. After then, many of the world famous enterprises have started to study, research and implement Six Sigma management, so it creates the trend in the business world.When Baosteel introduced the Six Sigma management, they carried out the digestion and innovation, and combined it with lean operations invented by Toyota, which has been the primary mean of solving practical problems, improving the site environment and improving production performance.In Baosteel directly plant, sintering capacity not only play a direct bearing on optimizing the overall ore matching structure, balancing iron-related processes’ material supplies and the other procedure production capacity after the iron, but also affect the use structural of iron ore, as affect the cost of procurement of raw materials. With the ex situ repair of NO.2Blast Furnace, new construction of NO.4Blast Furnace and expansion of NO.1Blast Furnace, it increased demand for sintered ore, resulting that sintering process once again faced with the challenges to improve the sintered ore production. Therefore, measures should be continually took to tap the sintering production capacity. Improvement of sinter yield is one of main measures to improve the productivity of sintering, and the internal rate of return sintered ore has been classified as the quality and cost indicators of iron plant by the company since2007, why great efforts need made to improving it. Comparing the internal rate of return sintered ore from NO.1DL to NO.3DL, that of NO.2is more than the other two, so firstly reducing the internal rate of return sintered ore of NO.2DL becomes the starting point to improve the yield in whole sintering process. This paper based on Six Sigma projects of improving the sinter yield, made the use of project management schedule planning and control methods, developed a project schedule planning and implemented the progress control according to it., which became one of implementation examples from project schedule planning and control theory to Six Sigma projects. The main contents included:(1) Profiles, research methods and technologies of Six Sigma projects on improving sinter yield.(2) Schedule planning process and results of Six Sigma projects on improving sinter yield.(3) Schedule control implementations and effectiveness of Six Sigma projects on improving sinter yield.
