The flotation wastewater produced from sulfide mineral contained a lot of flotation reagents and metal ions. Flotation effluent without treatment might seriously influence the flotation index and damage our environment. Xanthate, sodium diethyldithiocarba and dithiophosphate as organic flotation reagents were used frequently in colored metals sulfide mine. The analysis methods for the three kinds of organic flotation reagents in spectrophotometer were investigated in this paper, which replaced the reflux method of COD and provided for mine enterprise to detect flotation reagents simply, quickly and accurately. Application of this method can detect not only the content of flotation reagents in flotation pulp, improving the beneficiation indexes by controlling dosage, but also the content of drug in the waste water, reusing the waste water in the flotation process. The effective way for removing flotation reagents and metal ions was also studied in this paper, which was the base of designing the project for mine wastewater treatment.Xanthate and sodium diethyldithiocarba were instable when they were heated or mixed with acid. According to this nature, the three kinds of organic flotation reagents could be separated effectively and tested accurately. For the sodium diethyldithiocarbathe analysis method, the concentration detection limit was0.005mg/L. It showed a good linear relationship for sodium diethyldithiocarba at a range of0.017~10.0mg/L, the relative standard deviation was less than7.6%. For the dimethylphenyl dithiophosphate analysis method, the concentration detection limit was0.003mg/L. It showed a good linear relationship for dimethylphenyl dithiophosphateat a range of0.01~8.0mg/L. the relative standard deviation was less than4.6%. For the ethyl xanthate analysis method, the concentration detection limit was0.006mg/L. It showed a good linear relationship for ethyl xanthateat a range of0.02-15.0mg/L, the relative standard deviation was less than2.8%.The study on removing flotation reagents and metal ion in the simulate and actual wastewater using the method of coagulating sedimentation, chemical oxidation and adsorption has been investigated. Coagulating sedimentation removed metal ion well, but removed flotation reagents incompletely, it needed combine with other methods. Chemical oxidation could remove flotation reagents effectively, but demanded a high pH value. It was suitable for the process of purifying wastewater in deeply. Adsorption removed flotation reagents effectively. The process conditions of PAC coagulating sedimentation-active carbon adsorption were confirmed in this paper when the optimal values of pH, PAC dosage, PAM dosage, activated carbon dosage were8,30mg/L,2mg/L,150mg/L, respectively, the flotation wastewater quality was improved obviously. Flotation reagents and metal ions contained in flotation wastewater were removed substantially, and the foamability was weakened. The flotation experiment results showed that the effect of flotation using the treated water which was cleaned by PAC coagulating sedimentation-active carbon adsorption method, was almost the same as that of using fresh water, so the treated wastewater could be used in the process of flotation.
