Structure of production system is becoming more and more complicated and equipment is becoming increasingly integrated, these increase the difficulty of maintenance decision. To solve this problem, the paper took the parts manufacturing enterprise as research object, aimed at the problem of selecting maintenance method and time, perfected and combined lifetime determination and group maintenance cost model, established maintenance decision model based on reliability cost. The model can provide basis for the problem of equipment maintenance decision.Equipment’s complexity and economy, research status of maintenance decision were summarized. Problems existed in maintenance process were pointed out. Equipment’s failure was classified into many species, mathematical model of main failure were given out. Reliability and maintainability characteristics were enumerated. Lifetime determination and group preventive maintenance models were perfected, and the two models were verified respectively. Equipment maintenance decision model was established based on reliability analysis. The problem of equipment maintenance was divided into two sub-problems:equipment condition consumption and determining the minimum value of reliability-cost, solving process and MATLAB implementation method were given out, and then determined the optimal maintenance based on solving result.Selected clutch cover unit assembly as represent product, introduced clutch cover unit assembly’s structure composition, assembly process and structure of assembly system in detail. Application method of maintenance decision model in assembly system was given. Result verifies the model is accurate. It provides theoretical support for establishment of optimal maintenance policy of main equipment in clutch assembly system.
