The daily inspection of oil and gas pipes is researched as the background in the thesis. An intelligent inspection system is development with GPS positioning technology, GIS (geographic information system) and the data transmission technology.The main work of the thesis includes:in the first, using GIS data of oil and gas pipes, the route of inspection and fault location are displayed for inspection personnel by graphical interface intuitively. Through fixing position technology, the inspection personnel can be monitored in the whole process of working. And the second, the problem of oil and gas pipes can be feed backed to management center in time. The effective solutions cab be found based on the analysis of the total information and data in the management center. The staff personnel can do some thing with the solution. In the third, digital pipes can be built based on the rich geographic information and operation situation. The decision can be made based on digital pipes, at the same time, staff personnel can understand all kind of information in real-time. The scientific and effective management operation of the oil and gas pipes can be realized, so as to make the work efficiency and work quality was improved.In the process of system development using the phone’s GPS positioning; Using ArcGis, the user interface is constructed, Use the Oracle database system; Using the eclipse implements the system development.
