With the development of the market economy, the scale of the city is constantly expanding. The reconstruction of the old town is the main construction project led by the government and in which the developers participate to better the city planning and to improve the living environment. The thesis studies reconstruction project management of the uncompleted land in Yuexiu District of a real estate company in Guangzhou. It analyzes from the expected profit based on the cost (i.e. how to maximize the effectiveness of compensation and resettlement of houses demolished) to the optimum operation of the construction project management (i.e. the schedule control, quality control, cost control, safety management and contract management). The author also researches on each phase and the experience and inadequate of the management of the house demolition from the angel of the theory and practice, which improves the corporate management, and provides useful advice on the similar development project.The thesis is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is about the development process and research direction of the project management from home and abroad. The second chapter discusses the similarity and difference between old town reconstruction and demolition project and other project managements by compiling the related theory of the project, project management, old town reconstruction and demolition, which defines the category of old town reconstruction project management. It also introduces the background of the old town reconstruction project, laying the foundation of the subsequent research. The third chapter takes an uncompleted land of Yuexiu District as an example to discuss the means of compensation on resettlement in terms of development cost, time control and effectiveness. The fourth chapter pays attention to the people to be relocated, as well as the problem of developers'striving for reasonable arbitration of the house demolition. It also studies the management of each operation phase of the demolition project, giving practical guidance to the project management.
