Studies On Regional Economic Disparities Evolving And Its' Factors In Liaoning Province

At the beginning of the reform and openness period, the enforcement of non-balanced development strategy has led to the increasing gap among different regions. Many regions have gained priority during this period which has last these thirty years. It is a vital task to narrow down the gap among the regions, make full use of area radiation, promote economic growth in backward areas, and facilitate the coordinated regional economic development. The essay regards Real GDP per capita as the main measure to study the regional economic gap evolution condition within Liaoning Province. Firstly, the essay embraces the measurement of the absolute and the relative differences in regional economic gap within Liaoning Province, and includes the systems analysis of the evolution trend in regional economic differences within Liaoning Province from the year 1990 to 2009. Secondly, the thesis illustrates the regional economic differences from the standpoint of tertiary industries and space to investigate the tertiary industries' contributions to the regional economic differences. In addition, it picks out the main leading role from the inter-area differences and intraregional differences. In the end, it studies the elements which affect the regional economic differences in Liaoning Province.The dissertation includes five parts. In the first one, it sorts out the regional economic imbalance theory and explains the index mentioned in the thesis. The second and the third parts are the main section of the paper. In the second one, it describes the basic economic condition within Liaoning Province. In the third part, it systematically compares the regional economic gap changes from the year 1990 to 2009 by calculating the standard deviation, coefficient of variation, Gink coefficient, etc. In addition, it holds the decomposition analysis of regional economic difference structure of Liaoning Province from the standpoint of tertiary industries and space. In the fourth part, it studies the factors which affect the regional economic gap of Liaoning Province, and analyzes the value of the influencing factors through the Panel Date model. In the fifth part, it makes the conclusion based on the research outcome of the former three parts. Meanwhile, it brings forward the relative policy recommendations to guide the regional economic growth of Liaoning Province.The research result shows that the absolute differences of regional economy of Liaoning Province have been increasing from 1990 to 2000. Relative differences have raised from the year 1990 to 2000. They reached the maximum in the year 2000, and then started to reduce gradually. Although the regional economic relative differences of Liaoning Province have narrowed down, the interior gap still exists. For instance, the interior gap in costal economic developmental zone is comparatively big, and there is the huge contrast in the economy situation between the northwest and costal areas. It is still a formidable task to narrow down the regional economic gap, and achieve the comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable development.
