The statistics from China Tourism Bureau indicates that during the year 2008,the number of inbound tourism in China is 130 million person-time, the foreign exchange earnings from tourism is $40.8 billion, the income of domestic tourism is $874.9 billion. However, the number of the students majored in tourism management who has decided to give up their specialty are getting more and more. This can not help but ask what is the reason, so it is very urgent to research the students'professional identity with tourism management .This article is about the professional identity with the students who majored in tourism management with the narrate study. It analyses the connotation, the process of development and change, and the influence of the identity with tourism management of the students by interview. Finally it comes to some conclusions as follows:Ⅰ. The connotation of the identity with tourism managementFirstly, the professional identity with tourism management of the interviewees is ever-changing and have multi-connotations; secondly, the interviewees have stereotype about the tourism management at the beginning; thirdly, it showed varied images of the student majored in tourism management; finally, the interviewees are worried about their future, and wish to be their-self.Ⅱ. The process of the identity with tourism managementFirstly, choosing the major is incidental coincidence almost; secondly, every interviewee has a story about the major, and present a process of fluctuant by vertical analysis; finally, this is a gradual deepening of the process of identification, including professional values, professonal ethics, professional learning concept, the course, professional practical knowledge, professional inspection, professional practice, career choice by horizontal analysis.Ⅲ. The influence of the identity with tourism managementThis article includes four aspects as follows: personal characteristics,teacher education and teaching courses,the factor of tourism industry and interaction between the classmates,and so on.
