As a kind of safe, clean and abundant energy, wind contains vast amounts of energy and it is important natural resource. Without consuming mineral resources, wind power generation does not emission any pollutant and greenhouse gas. So the use of wind power has become the main form of wind energy, and the world attaches great importance to this power which makes it develop quickly. Because wind has the characteristics of random, intermittent and significant anti-peaking, large-scale wind power grid systems will increase the demand for peaking capacity. So the capacity of wind power digestion is extremely important in the whole process of wind power. The study of wind power digestion not only has important theoretical and practical significance for ensuring safe and stable operation of electricity grid and ensuring safety and reliability of electricity supply, but also provide basis for government make decision in wind power development planning and transmission planning.Firstly, this paper summarizes the research of wind power digestion theory and uses the research method on digestion capacity of wind power. Then it collects all data of northeast wind grid combining with the northeasterly wind power characteristics, this paper analyzes and summarizes the status of the development of wind power and wind power characteristics which including the annual average wind speed changes in the Northeast, load coincidence factor of wind power, the correlation between wind power curve and load, and wind power output in different period. After that this paper introduces status of power grids development planning of power source and power grid in the northeast and forecasts load demand, and analyzes the wind power digestion capacity of the Northeast Power Grid, and forecasts the digestion level in the future. Finally, this paper summarizes the results on the development of wind power of Northeast power grid, and puts forward the suggestions for the questions founded in the process of analysis.
