Shipping market is a capital-intensive industry. Because of its volatile market environment, unpredictable profit and loss, it has a comparatively higher risk. In order to be the winner in the fierce competition, global shipping companies look for cooperation in the competition and continue to adjust their development strategies. In the past, liner conferences and shipping alliances ran into disintegration for lack of effective incentive and difficulty to maintain steady state and other reasons. As the market evolved, Shipping Pool attracted wide attention in recent decades. The financial crisis in 2008 had a serious impact on the world shipping market. Many shipping companies were facing bankruptcy because of difficulty to maintain operations. Compared with independent shipping companies, Shipping Pool has many advantages, for instance, economy of scale, greater market share, long-term contracts, sharing of the risks of operating independently and so on. Therefore, studying the cooperation mechanism of Shipping Pool in-depth has great significance for guiding the shipping companies effectively to avoid the operational crisis and achieve stability and development. In this paper, the author analyzes the cooperation mechanism of Shipping Pool using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods and makes a few recommendations on how to achieve stable development from symbiotic perspective. Firstly, the author illustrates the development of shipping alliances, Shipping Pool and the related concept of symbiosis. On this basis, he continues to analyze in-depth the structure features and symbiotic model characteristics of Shipping Pool. Further more, Cournot model is used for the companies in the Shipping Pool to carry out the win-win analysis from the economic perspective. Secondly, the paper discusses how the symbiotic energy generation and distribution impact the shipping companies in the symbiotic evolution. Through the Logistic model, it analyzes the stability point of steady state, combined with simulation to verify that the existence of stationary point is reasonable. Finally, after the foregoing analysis, the author puts forward recommendations to promote the steady development of Shipping Pool and looks forward to providing beneficial reference for Chinese shipping companies participating in global competition and actively cooperating with other major shipping companies and Shipping Pool.
