The Empirical Study On Patent Assignee Double H-indices

Based on the patentometric theory and statistical method, the author analyzed the characteristic of the patent assignee double h-indices. Choosing 45 corporations and 50 universities, the author made a penetrating judgment of the relationship among double h-indices and other patent indicators by correlation analysis. This paper could provide feasible references for patent evaluation and deepen the study of patent h-index.In the paper, the author firstly summed up the history of the Patentometrics on the indicators and empirical studies, and reviewed the current achievements of h-index research in patent evaluation. And then, quantitative method was applied to analyze double h-indices, CII&TS and SL&SS. Furthermore three h-index models were chose to be fitted by actual conditions. Finally, the author explored the similarity and diversity between the applied patent assignee ha-index and granted patent assignee hb-index.The innovations of this paper should be summarized as two aspects:1) Comprehensively discussed the patent assignee double h-indices.2) Analyzed the difference between patent assignee double h-indices and the SL&SS, which popularize the h-index used in patent evaluation and provide an effective method to distinguish the applied patents and granted patents in DII database.
