The Causes Of Graduates Employment Problem

Under the background of contradiction between the current social economic development and graduates' employment and on the basis of the literature study, this paper discusses the following questions:education system and industrial structure, which has more influence on the graduates' employment? In other words, is the unreasonable education system, which caused over-education, or the irrational industrial structure, which lead the labor market cannot satisfy the graduates' employment demand, causing the graduate unemployment phenomenon.The graduate unemployment phenomenon is not just unique in China. From the worldwide scope, many countries have experienced or are facing the problem in a certain extent. There is lots of research on this issue, from the multi-dimensional perspectives of over-education, expected return, individual differences, etc. to analysis the graduate unemployment phenomenon.The previous studies show that, education system and industrial structure have close relations with graduate unemployment. On the one hand, the dislocation of educational system and social demand, results the graduates engage the work which does not match their knowledge and skills, and generates over-education issues. On the other hand, the irrational industrial structure cannot create enough jobs in the high-level labor market for the graduates and result in over-education or unemployment.This paper makes use of various research methods, such as literature study, comparative analysis, empirical study and other methods to demonstrate the fundamental reason of the graduate unemployment problem is lack of market demand caused by the irrational industrial structure. The industry's ability to absorb employment fails to keep pace with the speed of the development of human capital, which leads to the problem of the graduates' employment and the phenomenon is becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, to accelerate the adjustment of industrial structure and to create high-end demand are the most fundamental ways to solve the graduates' employment problem.
