In recent years, China's foreign trade has been developing rapidly and constantly, which contributes a lot to our country. Meanwhile, China's unemployment problem don't get very good relief. In this background, it is of significance to study the effect of China's foreign trade to the employment and to provide effective reference for solving the employment problem.This thesis first reviews the development of the theoretical researches in this area, then illustrates the mechanism of influence of China's foreign trade on employment by constructing the theoretical framework of the effect of China's foreign trade to the employment and presenting the approaches, gets quantity of effective employment by constructing estimate model of recessive unemployment. After making theories preparation and data preparation, it describes the development status of foreign trade and employment by mainly using large amounts of data and chart. It analyzes the overall effect on employment of China's foreign trade from 1980 to 2008 through a regression model, and discusses different effects of China's foreign trade to the employment in different stages. It analyzes the overall effect of processing trade to the employment from 1994 to 2008 and compares the effect of processing trade to the employment in eastern region and Midwest region.At last, this thesis obtains the following main conclusions:China's foreign trade increases employment opportunities remarkably; China's exports obtains positive effect on employment, while imports for the negative effects; the stimulating effect on employment of China's foreign trade is gradually weakening; processing trade boosts employment remarkably; compared to the stimulating effect on employment of the processing trade in Midwest region, the processing trade boosts employment more in eastern region.
