A Study On The Urban Function Development Of Guangzhou Based On Regional Economic Integration

Central city is the organization center of regional economic integration. Conversely, the regional economic integration has a critical influence on the development of urban function of central city. Therefore, how to seize the opportunity of regional economic integration,develop and innovate urban function, thereby enhance developing competitiveness and the capability of promoting the development of regional economic integration,is a pratical problem demanding prompt solution as well as an academic problem worthing exploring. Beginning with the conceptions of urban function of central city and regional economic integration,this thesis discusses factors that affects urban function and how the regional economic integration influences its development.Focusing on the effects on the development of urban function of Guangzhou by Perl River Delta(PRD),the thesis discusses about the accompanying problem.Further, several suggestion and the direction of urban function of Guangzhou are proposed. The thesis has gotten and lead to following conclusion:1.Urban function of the central city refers to effects in sectors like regional economy,society,culture,politics as well as administration.It refelcts 4 characters: multi-functional,cyberize,international and guidance.In contrast, regional economic integration refers to an entirety focusing on one or two central cities among administrative regions with social,economic and cultural exchange.Through unified developing plan and policy,regional economic integration establishes multilateral coordination and communication mechanism,and forms highly developed networks on transportation.Therefore,it promotes and optimizes population flowing as well as logistics,capital and information flows, which constitute an orderly, complementary,combined and cooperative intergrity.It has 3 characters,i.e. the core function of central city,from top to bottom guidance and realize by the network system.2.The factors influencing the development of unban function of central city include the location conditions of central city, the central city economic development level, the hinterland economic development, frastructure as well as policy and administration capacity.Under the structure of regional economic integration,the development of central city function is affected by policy and mechanism,industrial combination and the culture.3. The regional economic integration of PRD affords new opportunities to the development of Guangzhou urban function:firstly,it raises Guangzhou's status as a central city;secondly,it accelerates Guangzhou's process of industry upgrading;thirdly,it strengthens Guangzhou's influences on the surrounding cities.4.This thesis utilises quantitative analysis by urban flow model,which indicates that Guangzhou is the center of PRD,and it plays an important role in organizing and leading of regional economic integration of PRD. However, at this stage,there are still many deficiencies in Guangzhou urban function,including lacks of specific measures of establishing urban function platform,and the weekness of the function of management,service and innovation.The thesis reveals that, Guangzhou should develop to be a livable area with comprehensive infrastructure pivot, optimized and upgraded industrial platform,culture center,education center as well as innovation center.Therefore,Guangzhou should continue strengthening its urban function,which involves giving proper guidance to corporations in PRD of trans-regional development,improving infrastructure and logistics in the region,establishing public information service platform,and cultivating originality.
