The product quality of the automobile industry concerns user's safety. Since most of the auto parts are provided by parts suppliers, their product quality decides the vehicle quality, and therefore is paramount. While developing new products, Auto Company attaches great importance to managing the process of new product development to ensure better quality. What is unfortunate is that most domestic part suppliers have to follow closely the requirement of the auto company in the process of new product development. This article examines SAAE company to analyze its new product development, with a hope to find opportunities for improvement.The first chapter presents the research background, its significance as well as the basic condition of SAAE. By conducting a SWOT analysis and Boston matrix analysis on SAAE, this chapter tries to analyze its strength and weakness, opportunity and risk, and also its future strategy.The second chapter introduces the origin of auto product realization process, and analyzes major vehicle production methods and tools, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, among which PPAP submission request of GM company is taken for example.The third chapter introduces the procedure of SAAE new product development and also two of its most common tools:QFD and DOE.The fourth chapter summarizes a series of problems and risks in the SAAE new product development:the quality risk, customer demand recognition risk, and project management risk.The fifth chapter puts forward suggestions about quality strategy and factor control based on the experience of SAAE new product development. Moreover, this chapter introduces the improvement of SAAE project management.The sixth chapter concludes this thesis and touches on the study limitation.In the end, the author reminds readers that this thesis provides vital information and advice to products of the same line, and this information might not apply to every company in the industry. To maintain competitive edge in the market, auto companies need to make new development based on their own condition and mostly market demand.
