| In 2005, with the reformation of China's foreign exchange system, the "RMB-FX Market Maker" has been lead to the interbank FX market. China's interbank FX market began to develop dramatically, and it became an important part of the capital markets. The RMB-FX market maker banks played an irreplaceable role in respects of improving the FX formation mechanism, promoting the convertibility of the RMB, serving to financial institutions, promoting the way of macro regulation and control, and improving the financial market system.Shanghai PuDong Development Bank (SPDB) has 33 branches in domestic and 565 business institutions and it's a comprehensive commercial bank. SPDB became one of the first group of RMB-FX market maker banks in the January of 2006. The related RMB-FX market maker business of SPDB is as followings:customer RMB-FX spot, customer RMB-FX forward, interbank RMB-FX spot trade, interbank RMB-FX derivatives trade (include RMB-FX forward trade, RMB-FX swap trade and RMB-FX currency swap trade).However, as a member of first group RMB-FX market maker banks, SPDB is facing to many problems with the development of China's foreign exchange market and it has becoming the neck of SPDB's RMB-FX market maker business. These problems happened with a variety of reasons. To study and solve these problems can make the interbank FX market to be more perfect and completely. It is also a big purpose of this thesis.This thesis describes the daily operation and the status of SPDB's RMB-FX market maker business based on the huge real data. Then, it analyzes not only the problems and the difficulties but also analyzes the reasons. And finally it gives out a solution.The innovation of this thesis is that starting from the actual operation and business, and made a completely analysis of the status and problems. And in this thesis, it put out many advices and suggestions to improve the business. The meaningful role is quite helpful not only to SPDB, but also to other commercial banks. |
