Agritourism is a special form of agriculture, and a recreational agricultural activity conjoined with tourism. It relies on agricultural projects like primary products, the process of agricultural production, agricultural facilities and equipment, agricultural natural resources and rural cultural landscape. Market-oriented, with reasonable farm layout, agritourism will achieve an effect of optimizing agricultural production structure and landscaping, as well as provide tourist some services including food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment with rural characteristics. In China, agritourism rose and developed from 80s, 20th century, then became a new approach for agriculture development and a frontier for tourism development. Recently, it comes to a period of comprehensive development for agritourism in our state. The booming number and expanding distribution and widening scope of agritourism attractions indicated a new trend for its development.As a well-known oil-industrial city in China, Daqing not only has a powerful and developed industrial economy, but also has a good foundation of agriculture. Based on advantageous geographical position, abundant natural resources, sophisticated urban civilization and good social-economy, as well as driven by industrial economy and civilization, Daqing developed agritourism actively these years, together with exploring approaches for sustainable economic development of the city. However, the development of agritourism in Daqing is still in the immature stage, restricted to some objective and subjective reasons.In this research, I studied the development of agritourism from domestic and international cases, and learned their experiences, then elaborated the concept, characteristics, functions and development modes of agricultural tourism systematacially. With a method of field research, we made clear and analyzed the conditions for agritourism development in Daqing, then described the feasibility and necessity for the agritourism development in Daqing, relied on its unique agritourism resources, convenient regional transportation facilities, excellent social-economy and strong policy support. The limitations in infrastructure, agritourism planning, the quality of employees and promotion were analyzed in this research, along with specific suggestions. Considered the factors of demographic characteristics and travel distance et al., a detailed market segmentation and market positioning was conducted for the agritourism market, based on a series of questionnaire survey in Daqing. Some effective marketing strategies including:product strategies, price strategies, place strategies and promotion strategies for the agritourism development were proposed in this research, to improve the popularity and impact of agritourism in Daqing.
