The Analysis On Tajik Women's Social Status Through The Perspective Of Marriage Customs

This thesis starts from the perspective of folk custom and gender, specially focusing on the method of field investigation and the method of literature reviewing, makes a deep and intensive research on every aspect of Tajik women's marriage in Xinjiang. This thesis is based on the research in Tashkorgan area and county. Being an important part of Tajik people's custom, the custom of marriage can clearly reflect Tajik women's status and role in the family.The first chapter introduces Tajik women's history, living environment and humanities. The second chapter introduces the entire process of their marriage from three periods: pre-marriage, marriage and after marriage. The third chapter emphasizes on the reflection of Tajik women's status in the marriage and how they connect with each other. The forth chapter analyses the reasons of the formation of their position firstly and offer some suggestion and resolutions to this phenomena.By the research mentioned above, the thesis makes a deep and thorough understanding of Tajik women's role and position in the family, and reckon though their status has been improved, influenced by certain factors, Tajik women are still not aware of the independence and self-consciousness, which result in a strong analisis and dependency.Traditional concept of gender and a stereotype impression of women has great restriction to Tajik women. Aiming at the reasons that affect Tajik women's statues in both family and society,(for example: incapable to be independent, low educational level etc.), the thesis has offered some solutions to the improvement of their position.
