Dalian, a small fishing village, takes 100 years to become a typical and modern city. Though there are many changes during this period, the development history of Dalian is full of Chinese's blood and tears. From 1905 to 1945, the Japanese aggressors had been ruling Dalian for 40 years. Dalian has unique physical-geographical conditions and excellent tourism sources, and the Japanese colonial government has attached great importance to develop the modern tourism of Dalian. It is evidently from ulterior movies that the Japanese colonial government to help Dalian develop tourism, because Japanese want to make the tourism into the pioneer of Japanese colonialism in Dalian.By providing rich evidence and reliable historical materials, the paper reveals the features of tourism development of Dalian:Firstly, it is a special mean for Japanese imperialism to maintain colonial rule in Dalian. Secondly, it's both commercial and political. It not only meet the needs of Japanese politics but also invade economic resource and cultural resource of Dalian. Thirdly, they incorporate the colonist culture and Japan militarism ideology into tourism for influencing Chinese greatly. Study on Dalian tourism during Japanese colonial rule leads us to conclude that the development of the state must depend on sovereignty and independence; the tourism development of city must abide by the law of society and economy development.This paper is not only written in the views of dialectical materialism and historical materialism but using the theories and methods of history, sociology and economics to discuss problems. It also tries to giving an objective and overall description, and respects history as well as the prevailing situation instead of hiding the fact that Japanese invade into Chinese.This paper analyzes the influence of the modern development of Dalian on the analysis of the Japanese colonial rule. On the one hand, it discovers the evil nature of Japanese imperialism through the reasons, conditions and characteristics of tourism of Dalian. On the other hand, it also analyzes the affects of tourism at that time as well as the developing direction of modern Dalian tourism.
