| The city's comprehensive carrying capacity is an important basis for sustainable development of urban. It is a necessary condition for sustainable development that we continuou to improve the city's comprehensive carrying. The city's comprehensive capacity is not only the embodiment and application of the theory of sustainable development in the urban systems but also an important economic and social indicator of sustainable development.Cheng-Yu town cluster is the political, economic core and transport hub of administrative in southwest China and the research, information, technology and industry concentrated areas and the high technology and advanced industrial base. To analyze the city's comprehensive capacity and promote the sustainable development of Chengdu city group is not only the need of controling the excessive expansion of the first cities to form a multi-center structure, making the city more orderly and rational system development but also the need for Western economic development strategy.Through design the evaluation system of city's comprehensive capacity, this paper analyzes and studies the spatial and temporal changes of the major city comprehensive capacity in Cheng-Yu town clusterand compare with other urban agglomerations in order to find effective measures of improving the city's comprehensive capacity and increase the sustainable and reasonable development of the major cities in Chengdu-Chongqing Urban.This divided into three parts, seven chapters.The first part includes the first chapters.It mainly is an introduction, overview of Cheng-Yu town cluster. It analyzes the background and significance of this study, synthetic the progress of the study of capacity of the domestic and international situation, this study briefly describes the technical methods used in the chromatography analysis and gravity model.The second part includes second, fourth, fifth and sixth chapter. These four chapters are the main part of this study.The second chapter attempt to establish a comprehensive evaluation system including the five elements (the land, water resources, science, education, environment and transport), selected 25 relevant indicators. chapterⅢestablished by AHP weights, and calculate the integrated capacity scores.ChapterⅣandⅤare the most important part of this paper.Chapter IVanalyzes the comprehensive capacity of Cheng-Yu town cluster. It studies obtained:the level of the city's comprehensive capacity and not a direct proportion to the size of the city, the city's comprehensive capacity will not vary with the expansion of city size increased; 2008 Cheng-Yu town clusterAgglomeration of the two core cities of Chongqing and Chengdu in the synthetic capacity were higher than Beijing, Tianjin and other cities in groups of eight core cities.
