The Theory & Practice Of Feasibility Study Of Tourism Project

Feasibility study gives a comprehensive analysis and in-depth evaluation to a proposed project, to make sure the opportunity is possible, practical and profitable, which provides an effective measure to improve the decision-making process. In 1970s, China introduced feasibility study and made it necessary step of a construction project, which mainly applied to industry project. Because tourism stated late, usually with small scale of investment, feasibility study of tourism project has not been provided with regulations and criterions.Currently, the scale of tourism project becomes larger. During the Twelfth Five-year Program period, with the incentive of tourism polices and expansion of citizens'demand, tourism will face great opportunities and investment will lead to a new period. As practice demonstrates, the key to the success in tourism investment is the scientificity of Preliminary work. Many problems emerge in the process of decision-making and post-operation, and feasibility study will play a more and more important role. Based on the theory of sustainable development and incorporated the special attribution of tourism projects, this paper discussed its connotation, logic inception, made a comprehensive analysis of the factors which affect the success of a tourism project, then applied AHP method to assess projects and chose the optimal proposal. Lastly, by case study of Baoan Lake ecotourism project, it gave a practical analysis of feasibility study. It tried to make a systematical analysis of tourism project feasibility study to promote innovation of its theory and practice.This paper is composed of five chapters:Chapter 1, introduction. This part presents the background, literature review, significance of this study and guidelines and method of this study.Chapter 2, basic theories.This part discusses the connotation of feasibility study of a tourism project,and gives a systematical review of relative theories.Chapter 3, scientific mechanism.This part reveals the logic inception of tourism feasibility study from three perspectives.Then under the framework of resource feasibility, external operational environment feasibility, technical feasibility and sustainable development ability, it posts a comprehensive analysis of the factors key to the success of a tourism project. By the application of AHP, decision-making are deeply discussed.Chapter 4, case study. This part introduces the case of Baoan Lake ecotourism project. Based on the analysis of its attributes and factors, a model is made to help the decision.Chapter 5, conclusion. This part makes a review of this study and proposes some questions which need more discussion in the future.
