Application Of GIS In Tour Information System

After World War II, the swift development of social economy,the progress of transportation vehicles and communication facilities, people's income growing and individual free time increasing and people's request to the life quality enhancing,which have been promoting the tourism development. Traveling becomes one of the essential parts of people's life and tourism becomes one of the biggest industries in the world. The tourism belongs to the information intensity industries,the ability of gaining tour information is the important symbol that weighs an area's tourism development level.The traditional way of gaining information is unitary and the information quantity is few and the effectiveness is not so well. Nowadays,human society has marched into information age,tourism informationization becomes the inevitable trend.At present, many developed countries'tourism informationization have achieved a high level,however,Chinese tourism informationization is still on initial stage,as our country joining World Trade Organization,the trade between various countries becomes more and more liberalization,the overseas developed tourism will inevitably bring the formidable influnce and the unprecedented challenge to our country's tourist market.Therefore,it's an urgent duty to apply the modern computer and information technology in the tourism to speed up the progress of traveling informationization.As an emerging science and technology,the Geographic Information System has the formidable spatial information management function,the map demonstration function,the information inquiry function and the spatial analysis function.The most major characteristic of GIS is that it can unify the spatial things'spatial characteristics and the attribute properties organically.Applying the GIS technology in the tourism can develop a good visualization effect tour information system which collects the functions of management, planing, decision-making, analysis and inquiry in a body.This thesis researchs on the application of GIS in tourism information system,based on the analysis of the present domestic and foreign traveling informationization development,and selects ComGIS as the developmental method,bases on the platform of MapX,takes SQL Sever 2005 as the database and uses Delphi7.0 as the visualization developmental tool,takes Hangzhou as an example,constructs the tourism information system of Hangzhou city. This system has realized map demonstration and output function,map browsing function including zoom in,zoom out and pan and information query functions,from and area survey functions,shortest path analysis function,in addition,the system also realized tour information management function.This system faces ordinary tourists which supplies the direct-viewing, complete and real-time informations for the tourist, simultaneously it faces the traveling administrators who can renew,revise and delete tourist information through the system.
