| Project management is basically through organizing and managing methods to take measures, and to guarantee the optimizing of the project objectives, including the target expense, the target time schedule, and the target quality. Engineering project is one of the most common and typical project forms. Time schedule is the most critical one of the three targets. The progress rate of the project management is not only an important part, but also a relatively contradictory section. Since 1990s, the interior decoration project of the department store plays a significant role. The key features of the interior decoration involve high investment, high risk of technology and society, and longer project cycle. Meanwhile, the counterforce of any postponement in the project is enormous. Therefore, taking a good care of the progress management in the interior decoration project, aims to improve the economic and social benefits, is the common focus of the department store field. The dissertation analyses the current status of the interior decoration projects of the department store in China, and points out the necessity of progress management. Meanwhile, the dissertation starts from the theories of the project progress management, introduces the basic theories, tools, and the current national status of the progress management in brief. Then the dissertation takes the decoration project in the LH department store as a case study to elaborate its progress control situation at the moment, to introduce the profile of the project, to indicate the conflicts during the project construction, and finally to analyze the reasons. All of these aspects are the motivations and the needs of the entire progress management. Accounting to the procedure of progress management, the dissertation demonstrates the progress design and implementation to the current LH decoration project. Initially, there are four sections focus on disintegrating the tasks of the entire project, involving ascertaining the logical relationship between the working procedure, estimating the time required for the project, employing online graphs to illustrate the preliminary plan, and meanwhile, optimizing the project in the light of the deadline. All of these form an integrated progress management case for the LH. Secondly, the dissertation describes a dynamic monitoring of the progress plan, track and inspects the implementation situation, and modifies the progress plan by analyzing the practical issues. These two aspects form an ensemble, constituting a complete progress management system of the LH decoration project. The objectives of the dissertation are to combine the theories and the practice, to penetrate into the analysis, and to summarize the experience from the progress management process. The investigation and research results can benefit other project management in the department store field. |
