Urban house demolition is developed vigorously in many cities, which plays an active role in optimizing the urban functions, maximizing the use of urban land, improving the living environment of residents and promoting city competitiveness. But at the same time, the problems in urban housing removal have been widely concerned by social mass. The paper concerns the living conditions of the"transitional residence"in which the residents live after leaving their former residential district in the process of urban housing removal and explores the problems which the relocation residents have faced in the processes of"relocation- transitional residence-moving back"or"relocation- transitional residence-buying a new house". Through"socio-spatial perspective"studied by MĀ·Gottdiener and other scholars, the author uses sociological theory to analyze the problems faced by relocation residents in the transitional period, and puts forward some suggestions.Having interviewed some relocation residents who ever lived in Dongfeng community, the author finds that the residents'social space has changed because of the removal events. First, space is connected with some social factors. The relocation residents'income and social status determine their housing choices and the rent will aggravate their economic burden in the transitional period. Besides, the changes of living space lead to some difficulties in enjoying public resources and the convenience of life. Second, space affects the interaction and social networks among people. Changes of living space result in the breakdown of neighborhood and will weaken functions of communication and support. Third, space has a certain social and cultural foundation and affects individual psychology. Relocation residents are difficult to join the new community and some residents even show self-identity crisis. To sum up, the survey shows that the problems of the"transitional residence"in the process of urban housing removal are reflected in four aspects: heavier economic burden, more difficulties in getting and maintaining public resources, the breakdown of neighborhood, and psychological changes of residents, etc.The author considers that the government should increase the numbers of public rental housing and regard the weak group in removal transitional period as security objects. This measure can reduce the residents'economic burden. What's more, the residents committee should play an important role in contacting people and building network platform, in order to maintain the neighborhood and relieve psychological discomforts of relocation residents in transitional period. However, the key to solving a series of problems in"transitional living stage"is that the government and the public should pay more attention to the residents'transitional period and human community.
