A Study Of Wenzhou Medium And Small-sized Enterprises Growing Ability

Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of its economy. However, enterprises'short life span, together with the bad economic condition, hurts the small and medium-sized enterprises a lot. Therefore, how to maintain the sustainable development of those small and medium-sized enterprises has been a question concerned commonly by Wenzhou entrepreneurs and experts. This research is based on this.By reading paper home and abroad and considering the characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises, we think small and medium-sized enterprises'growth capacity consists of the ability of management, learning, innovation, production, market and finance, interrelated and interplay with each other, which exert a significant influence on small and medium-sized enterprises and which establishes the theoretical base of this dissertation. On the basis of analyzing the evolution from"Wenzhou Mode"to"New Wenzhou Mode", with current development situation, this research points out that Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises'growth paradigm is mainly reflected as following: (1) traditional family management; (2) extensive operation on quantitative expansion; (3) The accumulation of original capital is achieved by their capital concentration; (4) OEM processing, lack of long-term brand planning.On the empirical inquiry of Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises'growth capacity, the dissertation makes up an evaluation system consisting of six first-grade indexes and seventeen second-grade indexes, the availability of which has been tested using the detailed data from six enterprises.Empirical results indicate that: (1) The growth of Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises is relied on effectively using their own inner resources, however, their long-range competitive advantage comes from enterprises'core competence, which is the foundation of enterprise activity and pushes forward the enterprises'evolution and development. Among the above six abilities, the innovation ability is the most important impetus on improving Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises'comprehensive ability. (2) Management ability does not contribute much to enterprises'development. This reflects some shortcomings in management in a way, for instance, family management affects the talent introduction of non-blood relation members; lack of professionals and senior personnel; top managers, short of entrepreneurial spirit, eager for quick success and instant benefit; and so on. (3) According to the results of empirical analysis, the development of Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises will still meet many problems, such as, entrepreneurs'quality still needs to be enhanced; enterprises'development still relies on the enlargement of production scale, the level of industry is not high, it is still in the stage of extensive growth.In the end, aiming at solving the existing problems in the development of Wenzhou small and medium-sized enterprises, this dissertation points out that to promote enterprises'ability in every aspect, we should take measures, such as, by establishing modern enterprise system, cultivating business culture, improving technical innovation, strengthening industry convergence, changing enterprises'managing ways and attracting foreign investment and so on.
