With the rapid development of China economy, there had been a sudden growth of large firms. It was the trend for these firms to choose the diversification strategy. To implement the diversification strategy successfully, it is very important to establish effective management system.This paper explored the management system in large firms with diversification strategy. First, it described a theoretical induction on the interaction between strategy and management, emphasized Chandler's contribution about strategy and structure. Second, it comparatively analysed several management modes. Third, it introduced four cases that include GE, Britishsteel and two domestic enterprises, and concluded that large firms organized according to the M-form should perform better than other forms.This paper concentrated on case research. Based on the theoretical framework, author carried out a research on management system of Steel-City Corporation. This paper described the history of management system in Steel-City Corporation, analysed the problem, and suggests reform plan.This paper benefited from practice work, and absorb experience from Pangang Steel Company.
