Study On The Increase Of Farmers' Income In Shanxi

The problem of the farmers'income concerns the development of the whole national economy, and hence has an influence on the progress of the construction of the better-off society. Since the reform and opening-up, the farmers'income increases step by step; the period between 1993 and 1996 is the fast-developing period for the farmers'income; the years from 1997 to 2002, the farmers'income increased at an unstable rate, and reached RMB2149.5 in 2002.In the article, the author analyzes the factors affecting the farmers'income in Shanxi, and put forward seven measures to increase the farmers'income. At present, the farmers'income in Shanxi increases slowly and at an unstable rate, and the main factors are as following: 1. the foundation of agriculture is still very weak, and agriculture production, especially the crop production depends on the climate in most areas; 2. the management of agricultural industrialization lags behind agriculture development, which failed to promote the increase of the farmers'income effectively; 3. the poverty-stricken area and population are both large; 4. the development of the urban and rural area as a whole is not planed and implemented effectively, and the second and the third industry are still underdeveloped.The seven measures to increase the farmers'income in Shanxi 1,deepen the adjustment of the economic structure in agriculture and the rural areas; upgrade the agriculture industry and agricultural products; 2,make the remaining labors transfer faster in rural area; promote the construction of small towns; 3,fasten the agriculture industrialization; cultivate the economic cooperation organization of the professional farmers; 4,strengthen poverty-relief activities, fasten the construction of better-off life in rural areas; 5,execute the Party's policies concerning rural areas; 6,increase the investment in agriculture; 7,promote the progress of agricultural science and technology.
