The Study Of Effectiveness Of Visitor Education

The paper makes a review of visitor education under the background of wilderness system of America firstly, presenting some introduction about basic concepts of visitor education, the role of visitor education in the management of recreational places based on natural resources such as wilderness, the history, contents, effectiveness and limits of visitor education and some theoretical research about it. It points out specially that the study of effectiveness of visitor education in resolving problems caused by recreational uses is a hotspot of visitor education research currently. Then the paper gives a case study. After discussing some main problems caused by visitors in Yunmeng Shan National Forest Park, visitor education is chosen to be used to influence littering. The paper tests the effectiveness of two techniques of signs and signs with broadcasting in deterring littering. The results show that both techniques are significantly effective, but there is no significant difference between them. The paper makes a deeper analysis of the results, discussing the facts that influence the results, explaining the way the educational techniques influence visitors' behaviors and evaluating the potential effects of visitor education. In the concluding part, the paper makes a realistic analysis of littering problems and gives some statistical results of the questionnaire.
