Not only is LRGR(Longitudinal Range-Gorge Region) the sole corridor for flora exchanging from China, even southeast of Eurasia to the Equator, but also is the flourishing region where China carry out the development strategy for GMS and Sino-ASEAN economy cooperation. In recent years, increasing human activity have given a great influence on the physical environment. How to balance the economic development and nature protection has been presented. The complex relief in LRGR, which is characterized by the interlaced arrangement of mountains and valleys, has a great impact on the physical geographic process occurred in the region. The main objectives of the study includes several aspects as following. Population density is estimated, the temporal dynamics and spatial pattern of LUCC in LRGR and driving force is also analyzed in both region and county scales based on physical geographic factors.1. The Study on Population Density and the Selection of Natural FactorsInfluencing Land Use Activity, in LRGR. Before the study being carried out, the premise that the influence of natural factors on the distribution of villages and small towns is the same as that on population based on the fact that human has accustomed to the means of living together.
