A Study On Tourism Development Of Historic Houses

In terms of the tremendous values in architecture, history and culture, historic houses are one of the essential tourism resources for modern tourists. Based on tourism resources system, historic houses resources are composed of cities, towns and villages. All of these contain three parts which are the residence architecture, the spatial environment, and the cultural life. Tourists'decision on visiting historic houses destinations mainly due to two main motivations of nostalgia and experience. Given the reality of Chinese historic houses, this paper claimed that tourism development is one of the workable means in conservation historic cities, towns and villages. On the basis of study on the problems which Chinese historic houses tourism now face , this paper discussed an approach to achieve historic conservation and tourism development, which could create a satisfied historic houses tourism industry. Planning, which tie conservation and tourism planning together is the prerequisite of satisfied historic houses tourism. For the satisfied products, more in-depth experience should be injected to the tourism products and service. And the high quality service and management will guarantee the sound tourism. More attention should be given to the satisfaction of tourists, while, more real participation and profit should be given the community residents who own the historic houses and heritage attractions. Therefore, among the factors which influence the sustainable development, rational planning, products designing, service and management are principle issues for tourism development of Chinese historic houses destinations.
