In this thesis an investigation is made into a performance appraisal system for upgrade of core competence of the state-owned large-sized group, Huang Hai company. In the appraisal system indices are made non-dimensional by means of an effectiveness coefficient method, and weights of the indices are determined following Delphi method and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Then, the appraisal of Huang Hai's performance is made using an integrated fuzzy method.Based on a wide study of both theories and methods about performance evaluation in association with enterprise core competence recognition theory and dynamic model, the performance appraisal system based on enterprise's core competitive active factors is proposed in this thesis. Factors, including human resource, management ability, marketing operation, innovation and development, and strategies and culture, can not only reflect the organizational performance, but also imply prospect and trend of enterprise development.A case study in association with Huang Hai company is carried out against performance appraisal and factors affecting the enterprise performance are identified. Based on the result from the study, some proposals to develop the core competence for Huang Hai company are proposed in this thesis, with proposals proved to be active and meaningful through practice.
