This paper develops a practical approach for the selection of expatriate managers and discusses expatriate-training. This paper starts from analyzing duties and qualities of expatriate. Firstly, a set of criterion system is designed for evaluating expatriate managers based on the available researches. Then, the concepts of fuzzy numbers is introduced in view of the characteristics of the presented criteria, and a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method is proposed for selecting expatriate managers based on ideal and anti-ideal concepts. Finally, the training styles are developed include pre-departure training and in-country training and an case is given to demonstrate the use of the developed approach. |
