A Study On Regional Tourism Collaboration And Sustainable Development Of The Three Gorges Of Yangzi River

In the background of the global economic integration, the regional tourism collaboration is developing quickly in our country. In 1980, academic circles advanced the theory of"regional tourism collaboration". The study of this field has 20 years history. During this period, the field of the study become wider and wider, including the content, the way, the impetus and the mechanism and so on. Not only the academic circles, but also the government and the enterprises pay great attention to the regional tourism collaboration. It will be an important trend of tourism development in the future.Three Gorges of Yangzi River is one of the most early travel lines that be opened, it is well-known to the foreigners. However, tourism industry of this area has many problems. First, Three gorges tourism industry is managed separately by two different provinces—Chongqing and Hubei. This situation do great harm to the image of the tourism in Three Gorges area; second, the Three Gorges Dam Project brought profound changes to the Three Gorges tourism industry, a great deal aspects of the it faces new integration, such as resources, products, management and so on. Third, the development of Three Gorges has relation with some special problems of Three Gorge dam area, for example, the economic development, the steady of the migrates, the environmental protection, so we have more difficulty in order to realize the regional tourism collaboration in Three Gorges area.After adapting to each other for these years, Chongqing and Hubei come together finally, they signed"1+3"agreement on 6th September 2004. It declared the governments had changed their idea. From then on, the tourism collaboration has a new beginning. The key of the Three Gorges tourism collaboration is the cooperation between the west of Hubei and east of Chongqing . This paper took this cooperation as the object of study, analyzed the present situation of the collaboration and pointed out the obstacles of the collaboration. According to the"regional tourism integration"and the sustained development of Three Gorges regional tourism, this paper put forward many countermeasures as following: tourism planning cooperation, tourism resources integration, tourism management and so on. This paper also analyzed the internal mechanism of the regional tourism collaboration.Whether the regional collaboration is success became the key of the sustained development of Three Gorges tourism. The author expected the study of this paper could provide scientific foundation to build a reasonable system of regional tourism collaboration of Three Gorges.
