Present Status Of Silkworm Production And Countermeasures For Continuous Development In Nanyang City

The nature resource, climate factors, population, farmland and the silkworm production in recent year in Nanyang City, Henan Province were investigated. The climate factors, water resource, farmland and labor force etc. were suited for the silkworm production. The basement of the silkworm production was better and silkworm resources were rich. Silkworm production took an important role in the national economy in Nanyang City. The main reasons caused the decreasing of silkworm production sharply in recent years were the bad quality of silkworm cocoon. The comparative benefits to the other crops were low. The industrialization of silkworm production was less. The price of silkworm cocoon was instability. The persons engaged in silkworm research and technique extend were less and the quality of labor force engaged in silkworm production was poor, etc. Based on these problems, the counter-measures for continuous development of silkworm production in Nanyang City were the supporting the silkworm production in policy, quickening the forward pace of industrialization of silkworm production, enlarging the silkworm production scale, increasing the persons engaged in silkworm research and technique extend, increasing the quality of silkworm cocoon, improving silkworm breeding level, and reinforcing the construction of basements for silkworm production etc. The results will benefit the development of silkworm production in Nanyang City.
