Urban Road Structure Influence Traffic Control

The thesis introduces main content of traffic police function and road structure system, and then discusses that road structure decides the mode of traffic control, technologies of traffic control and the function of traffic control, so it puts forward the theory that urban road structure is the basic of traffic control. By analysis, we find many scholar and traffic department merely pay attention to the angle of traffic control,when they analyse the traffic jam problem. However, no traffic control could hold back traffic completely jam in practice. The reason of this problem is that, people always neglect the sticking point of traffic jam——the urban road structure.There are three parts in this article:In the first part, it introduces main content of traffic police function and road structure system, and brings up the theory that urban road structure is the basic of traffic control. Then, it demonstrated that road structure influence traffic control from three factors: road structure decides the mode of traffic control; road structure decides technologies of traffic control; road structure decides the function of traffic control. Accordingly, we gained the conclusion: urban road structure is the basic of traffic control. we couldn't put the axe in the helve Only depend on traffic control, unless we change the road structure which often brings traffic jam. So the key to cure traffic jam is urban traffic layout in advance.In the second part, taking example for Singapore, Tokyo and New York, it introduces and compares foreign urban traffic control, then gets the experience from the way foreign cities effectually harmonize road structure with traffic control. Therefore, we further conclude that urban road structure is the basic of traffic control.In the third part, taking Xiamen as sample, it analyses actuality of Xiamen road structure, and points out its disfigurement. By the guidance of the theory that urban road structure is the basic of traffic control, using foreign cities experience for reference,it brings up the measures to optimize Xiamen road structure to promote traffic control level.
