Programme Management Of Shanghai World Exposition Based On Sustainable Development Strategy

In the modern society with science and technology attaining high-speed development, a quantity of serious environmental problems, such as population expansion, lack of natural resources and power, environmental pollution, and species extinction, challenge the existence and development of human society. World Expositions, the biggest comprehensive global exhibitions, not only serve as important platforms for communicating achievements of all nations in the economical, technological, cultural, and social field, but also demonstrate re-thinking and exploration of human society development in the future. Therefore, how to make the city sustainable development and the harmony between nature and human beings has became an important theme for Expo 2010 Shanghai China.Occurring from the viewpoint of sustainable development strategy, this paper discusses how to introduce a lifecycle integrated management method into Shanghai Expo programme, which can satisfy sustainable development objectives of programme manegement. Through case study of a practical program, it tries to explore a sustainable construction mode in China.Firstly it makes a review and analysis on the research and practice of sustainable development theory in the construction industry. Secondly it analyzes characteristics and management demand of Shanghai Expo program; and concludes informatization experience of Aichi Expo, Hanover Expo, and Tajeon Expo. Thirdly, it advances sustainable development objectives for Shanghai Expo programme, and reorganize its management organization. Establishing program-based integrated virtual organizations and their supported lifecycle management information systems can help realize sustainable development of the programme. Fourthly, on the base of the study of Shanghai Expo informatization plan, it advances Shanghai Expo information systems lifecycle integrated model which can help realize sustainable development objectives, and especially analyses system architecture and function modules of Shanghai Expo Program Management Portal. In the end, it offers a solution plan and some suggestions to implement Shanghai Expo informatization plan, which includes the program management portal.In the period of large-scale urbanization in China, sustainable construction is very important for long-term sustainable development of the entire society. So it's indispensable and urgent to make a research on construction programme management based sustainable development strategy.
