With China joining WTO, the prospects of automobiles trade are good. Developing export trade of Chinese automotive products actively and reliably can not only find a new way for the development of Chinese automobile industry, but also can give impetus to the development of iron and steel industry and textile industry etc. and motivate the growth of national economy. The data of Ministry of Commerce shows that during the period of"the Tenth Five-Year Plan"the export of Chinese automobiles has increased at the speed of 40 percent each year, indicating the powerful development tendency. The export market of Chinese automotive products has already covered 207 countries and regions. Nowadays it has already become a topic of general interest that the export of Chinese automobile vehicle and component products. But compared with other powerful countries, we still have a long way to go in the aspect of the export scale of automotive products, except the very small scale, it still has other problems such as low price, low profit, inferior quality etc.. And with the increase of the export enterprise and exports quantity, various restricting factors have been revealing gradually. On the whole, the development of the export of Chinese automotive products is still slow. Facing the increasingly tense competition in the international market, how to improve the export competitive power of Chinese automotive products and how to speed up the development of the export of Chinese automotive products is a practical topic.The whole thought of this article is: Firstly, according to the background of automobile industry, research aim and the relevant theory of international competitive power, the author forms a clear concept of the export competitive power ofautomotive products. Then, using the"cause-result pattern"of Jin Bei, the evaluative target system of the export competitive power of automotive products is set up. Finally, on the basis of collecting and sorting out the data, the author uses overall evaluation method and single-index evaluation to do a comparative research on the export competitive power of Chinese automotive products and puts forward the factors restricting the export of Chinese automotive products and solution to it.This paper has mainly analyzed the characteristic of the export of our country's automotive products at present, and pointed out the current situation of the export competitive power of our country's automotive products according to the four important indexes affecting the export competitive power. And doing a comparative analysis on the RCA index of our country's automotive products export and the share in the international market with that of USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, the author tries to find out the gap and deficiency of the export of our country's automotive products. While analyzing the current situation of the export competitive power of our country's automotive products, the author finds out the factor restricting the export of our country's automotive products, at the same time according to Chinese national conditions, with the energetic support of the government, the author also puts forward the countermeasure which Chinese automobile production industry should adopt to expand the export. In this paper, the author has put forward his opinions on some issues he valued. If these can offer a few commonplace remarks by way of introduction so that others may come up with valuable opinions, and can make more colleagues in the foreign trade sector concern and study the development of the foreign trade of our country's automotive products, do our foreign trade of automotive products better by pooling the wisdom and efforts of everyone, and promote the economic development of our country and in this way the author can achieve the purpose of this paper. The paper can be divided into following five major parts:Part One: Preface. It mainly puts forward the background of automobile industry and its research purpose, which foreshadows the following discussion.Part Two: The review of relevant document on the export competitive power. This part mainly talks about three aspects of it. Firstly, it gives a brief account of theconnotation of international competitive power, which is divided into the international competitive power of the country, the international competitive power of industry and the international competitive power of enterprise. The auto industry is defined as the ability to get the best market share and profit with lower cost of production (services) and the characteristic of its remarkable products (services) in the present macro-environment and at the level of the industry development. Secondly, it points out the principal research issue of the export competitive power of Chinese auto products, which refers to that for the Chinese expert auto products to make the most of its advantages to keep a foothold in the overseas market and capture the domestic market. To define the studying paradigm of the export competitive power of automobiles from Porter's"country diamond"theory to Jin Bei's"cause-result"model, according to Chinese national conditions, the writer has got four available quantitative research index on the basis of Jin Bei's"cause-result"model. Thirdly, the paper point out the formula and implication of above four indexes, thus we can see that Part Two has laid a foundation for the point of view the author has put forward.Part Three: In this part, it mainly introduces the current situations and characteristic of the export market of Chinese auto products. In view of the different stages and different forms of the export development of Chinese auto products, the analysis on the characteristic of the export of Chinese auto products has been made from five major aspects: the increasing speed of the export of auto products, the scale of the export market of auto products, the export price of auto products, the type of the export enterprises of auto products, the threat and the risk of the export market of auto products, which has further laid the foundation for the research on the export competitive power of Chinese auto products.Part Four: It mainly analyzes the situations of the export competitive power of Chinese auto products. The author does a quantitative analysis on the export of Chinese auto products with four indexes such as the RCA index, shares in the international market, TC index, QCI index and does an international comparison between the first two indexes. From that we can see the export competitive power of Chinese auto products is inferior in the international market competition, but it iscontinuously increasing, and further respectively put forward the factors restricting the export of our country's auto products from the index analysis.1. Find from the analytical result of the RCA index: our country's joint ventures are not enthusiastic about the export.2. Get from the analytical result of the share in international market: the cost of manufacturing and running of the auto industry exceeds the international level. Chinese automobile enterprises pay more attention to the selling than to the services;3. Look from the analytical result of the TC index: the dislocated competition pattern between the exported automobiles and domestic automobiles still exists; various international attesting standard, non-tariff barrier; unaware of independent brands;4. Indicate from the analytical result of QCI index: the quality competitive power index of the export automobiles fluctuates greatly; the overall strength of the domestic enterprise of component and part automobiles is very weak and so on.Facing a lot of problems in the auto products export process of our country, we must find out a way suitable for the development of Chinese auto products enterprises from our national conditions. We will have a further discussion in Part Five.Part Five: The solution to improve the export competitive power of Chinese auto products. Firstly, starting with the excellent policy environment, the author brings forward that the government pay great attention to the export of the auto products, builds the export base of the national auto products and its spare parts and puts forward ten policies supporting the export of the auto products. On the basis of this, the author puts forward the following measure on how to survive and develop for the manufacturing enterprise of our country's auto products:1. To take product quality and brand strategy seriously, build up and improve the sale and service system;2. To explore the water transport market, reduce the transportation cost;3. To orientate the target market accurately, realize scale export benefit;4. To enlarge the investment in talents and technology, to make it international.Through the above discussion, the author has put forward ideas on the current situations and the characteristic of the export of our country's auto products, and therestricting factor of the export of our country's auto products in the export process, and the he also puts forward his preliminary ideas on the solution to promote the export competitive power of Chinese auto products. The development level of the auto industry has become one of the important indexes to measure the overall national strengthen of a country and is also an important means of speeding up the realization of the fundamental transformation of economic system and economic growth mode, promoting the upgrading of the industrial structure and enhancing international competitive power. During the future development course, the auto industry of our country will get the development opportunity to enlarge the market capacities and to diversify the market structure and so on, but meantime it will encounter both pressures and crisis from the interior and exterior. Therefore, the auto industry of our country should promote the export competitive power of auto products continuously, speed up the pace of technical norms and statutes to be in line with the world, thus we can have an invincible position in international competition. We have every reason to believe that in the near future, through the joint efforts of government and the business circle, our country's automobiles manufacturing industry will surely made new progress in the trade competition and our economy will develop rapidly.
