Study On The Theme Park Mode For Ethnic Cultural Tourism

Ethnic cultural tourism is attracting more and more foreign and domestic tourists. Tourism development brings about many economic advantages to minority regions. However, it does harm to local natural and social cultural environment as well. Many tourism developers emphasize tourism development rather than environment protection, and that causes local natural environment and ethnic culture undermined. How to balance tourism development and ethnic culture protection, so as to promote sustainable development of ethnic cultural tourism is the first and most important problem to be solved.Based on the existing research, the paper discusses how to reveal othnic culture by the means of theme park in minority regions. Theoretically, the paper puts forward the definition of ethnic culture park and discusses the method to analyse theme orientation. The paper maintains that theme should be established from tourism resources and tourism market, and tourism products design should centre on theme so as to intensify the image of theme. And community participation is a key factor to promote sustainable development of ethnic cultural tourism. For the case study, it has used Dai Garden in Xishuangbanna as the case. The success of Dai Garden's development proves that setting up ethnic culture park is a better way to promote the development of ethnic cultural resources. Residents" positive participation preserves dai culture and promotes sustainable development of ethnic cultural tourism to some extent.The paper includes 8 chapters:Chapter 1 is a brief introduction. Based on an analysis of the research background and a synthesis of relative achievements in this field, it gives out a full exposition of the topic's selection and the necessity of this study. At the same time, it illustrates the general framework, the methods as well as the theoretical foundation of this study.Chapter 2 states the correlative conception of ethnic cultural tourism, and analyses the characteristic of ethnic cultural tourism.Chapter 3 analyses the status quo and problems of ethnic cultural tourism development. Then the paper gives out a detailed analysis of three development modes of ethnic cultural tourism in minority regions. According to the comparativeanalyse, the author draws the conclusion that setting up ethnic culture park is a better way to promote the development of ethnic cultural tourism in minority regions.Chapter 4 provides a general theory frame for the ethnic culture park development in minority regions. Firstly, the paper analyses the conception, characteristic, and the development principle of ethnic culture park. Secondly, the paper gives out the development mode of ethnic culture park. Thirdly, the paper gives out a detailed analysis on the theme orientation of ethnic culture park from tourism resources, tourism market and tourism products. Finally, the paper puts forward community participation in ethnic culture park, and discusses the participation level and methods to promote community participation.Chapter 5 applys the theories studied in the previous section to the case research on the Dai Garden in Xishuangbanna. Firstly, the paper analyses its development mode. Secondly, the paper gives out a detailed analysis on the theme orientation of Dai Garden from tourism resources, tourism market and tourism products. Finally, the paper analyses the status quo of residents' participation in Dai Garden, points out the problems and puts forward some suggestions to improve residents" participation.Chapter 6 puts forward the main study conclusions of the whole paper, and points out the unsatisfactory part and the direction for further studies.
