HPC can be broadly defined as the technology that is used to solve computational problems that require significant processing power and that accesses and processes large amounts of data. Reduction in the time required to execute a computational or data-intensive application is the ultimate goal of HPC. It can not only assist the advance on science research, but also provide the ability to solve more and more complicated problems on diversified demands of society. Though HPC is still at the initial stage of development in China, the marketing demand of HPC is increasing very fast in recent years, about 20% increase of sales scale in most important industries and other fields. However, the ability on marketing developing, accessing, and operating of HPC manufacturers is the bottleneck to hamper the development of HPC to meet marketing demand. The marketing research on HPC of China is deficient at present.The thesis analyzes marketing characteristic and models of HPC, concludes the problems and challenges of HPC market in China from both manufacturer and customer sides. Lacking of uniform standard of HPC products, differentiated service and understanding of customer requirement, indefinite market position, deficiency on channel management and price issues are the primary problems for manufacturer side. On the other hand, the low developing ability and poor using efficiency are the main challenges which should be conquered. Based on the analyses from strategic marketing theory and tactical sale policies, a solution is brought forward: including the detailed measurement on strategy, market, channel, product, technology and service as well. This thesis investigates the business situation of HPC in Chinese market, trying to provide good measurements to solve current selling dilemma, looking for a feasible way of market development which can help both the customers and manufacturers be benefited from each other.The thesis conducts some primary investigation and analysis for the solutions of HPC market issues in China, hoping to make some contributions to the research and market progress on this field.
