Compared with other industries, tourism is closely linked with environmental protection. However, as tourism gets popular, some problems are rising, and they are more and more concerned by us. Nowadays, people know more about the need for environmental protection and demand for higher quality of tourism. Therefore, environmental protection in tourism becomes a hot issue in our life. Current researches on the influence on environment of tourism mostly lie in the aspect of nature, but in fact, it should be wider. This article firstly summarizes the background of research and the achievements in and abroad to find out the shortcomings. Then the technical route and main content are introduced. Secondly, based on the previous researches and the requirements tourists demand, combined with the theories of environment system engineering and sustainable development, it defines what tourism environment is, and puts forward a environmental impact evaluation system including indexes of sightseeing environment, living environment, natural environment and social environment. It then uses factor analysis method to elicit an integrated score and analyses the situation of environmental impacts in different regions in China through the experimental research. A conclusion is drawn: impacts on environment from tourism in our country stays on a middle level, but are severely different in different regions; influences mainly are from factors of environmental bearing capacity, society contribution, air quality and pollution handling; these factors vary widely in different areas, and high total score doesn't mean high scores on each factor, so it should be improved according to each instance.Lastly, this paper sums up the main innovations in research angle and method, and put forward the problems for future closer research.
