Business Model is the one success key of enterprise, especially those that conducting business in the IT industry. Moreover, software industry is the one of most important industries for a country, especiall for China. So the research on Business Model of Software industry is of great significance.The author has the ambition to give the theme a more rigorous content. The objective is threefold. The first one is to propose a theoretical Business Model framework for studying business in the IT era. The second one is to propose a multi-dimensional classification-scheme for Business Model of software industry, and to classify the Business Model of software industry. The final objective is to define the relationship between business models and software success, based on classified case studies in order to find out each category successful key.According to the research aim, the author has made below four big innovations spots.(1) To sum up the literature on Business Models and to induce a Three-layer framework and a Three-step classification method.(2) To categorize software business models and to propose a limited number of generic business models.(3) To prove the the corresponding relationship between business models and corporate profitability.(4) To proposed each classified characteristic and the application condition.Based on above four innovations, the author finally points out the existing software industry profit pattern some questions and the future possible development tendency, to provide the model for the profession correlation decision-making.
