On Analysis And Evaluation Of Regional Competitiveness Of Shaanxi

Economic globalization and regionalization are the two major trends of global economic development. So the regional competitiveness is becoming a decisive factor that a region gains the international competition in economy. Shaanxi's regional competitiveness is at a lower level, which is the main reason of its regional development in difficulty. Base on the analysis and evaluation of regional competitiveness, the thesis tries to find out the advantages and disadvantages of Shaanxi's regional competition, which will be very helpful and significant for the government to formulate Shaanxi's developing strategies and enhance its competitiveness.Firstly, in theory, the thesis gives out the rigorous concept for the regional competitiveness, analyzes the connotation of this concept and also discusses its composing elements. Then the author promotes the principles of setting up index system in measuring regional competitiveness, and builds an index system for measuring regional competitiveness by using the principal components theory in multivariate statistical analysis.Secondly, according to the principal component analysis method, the author analyzes the data from 30 regions in China, and obtains the index of Shaanxi's regional competitiveness and its ranking in the whole country. Since the principal component analysis method can not fully reveal all aspects of the advantages and disadvantages of regional competitiveness, the thesis schemes out a kind of matrix of judging competitive advantages and disadvantages. By using the cluster analysis, the author gives a further study for each indicator impacting Shaanxi's competitiveness.Finally, the thesis analyzes the situation and problems in Shaanxi's regional competitiveness, and points out its advantages and disadvantages, and its opportunities as well. On the basis, the author make a series of suggestions for how to enhance Shaanxi's competitiveness, including establishing regional leading industry clusters, accelerating infrastructural construction, encouraging the exchange of enterprises and personnel in the market and improving regional financial markets.
