Seeing the social problem that the commodity houses in large and medium-sized cities developed fast and the living standards are improving in recent years while many people reflect that they can not afford the houses, the thesis mainly studies on the possibility to resolve the problem of houses of low and moderate income groups in cities.The thesis opens with the development of commodity houses as the clue, and analyzes the structural unbalance of commodity houses: on one hand, both the price of houses and the unoccupied rate are very high; on the other hand, many low and moderate income groups in cities can not afford houses, the quality of low and moderate level houses is too poor.The thesis studies how the structural problem of commodity houses is serious from the view of population distribution and changes of urban population. The thesis points out that the development of commodity houses must resolve the problem of houses of low and moderate income groups.Therefore, the thesis studies purchasing power of low and moderate income groups according to the ratio between houses price and income in domestic houses market. On the other hand, from the consideration of contradiction of people's need, it studies several pairs of contradictions related to the house purchasing of low and moderate income groups. Thirdly, it studies the comprehensive living cost of low and moderate income groups in Shenzhen. From the three aspects above, for the good of low and moderate income groups, it compares the advantage and disadvantage of living in cities and suburbs. Further, from the consideration of the situation of the country that there is huge population but small land in China, it states that low and moderate income groups'living in suburbs is not consistent with the country's situation. In the middle part of the thesis, it indicates that the key of building houses that fit low and moderate income groups in cities is the price. In view of experience of economical houses, it especially points out that the key to build low price houses is to build small area houses.It studies the generality of small area houses to average city families according to the changes of modern families. Through the study on small houses in the market, it concludes the problems in the construction of urban small area houses, and analyzes the quality problem of small houses. Meanwhile, it stresses that small houses do not mean they should not be comfortable. Using the successful experience of development of super houses, we should make the small area houses more comfortable. It specifies that building small area houses is significant to China's situation, with comparison of the poor land resource.With Shenzhen as example, decide the total price of houses that fit low and moderate income groups, and guess the area range of small houses according to recent unit price of houses in the market.
