Tourism shopping is an important part of tourism activities and the tourism commodity is the crutial material base of the tourism shopping as its object. For a long time, the developed countries and regions in tourism have always paid more attention to developing tourism commodity. The proportion of tourism commodity income in the whole tourism income has always been regarded as the development level of a country by the tourism researchers.During the past years, China's tourism has been developed greatly, but the tourism commodity has lagged and couldn't satisfy the domestic and abroad tourists' need. This problem has seriously affected the ecomomic efficiency of Chinese tourism, and made the tourism commodity the focus of the tourism researchers, government and enterprises. As a comparatively developed tourism region in China, the development of tourism commodity in Beijing is not satisfied, too. The proportion of tourism commodity income in the whole tourism income in Beijing is not only lower than that 40%-50% of those developed countries, but also lower than that of other Chinese provinces. This paper is writed to promote the development of tourism commodity in Beijing and strenthen the competition of Beijing tourism.The paper firstly discusses the theories about tourism commodity, including the conception of it, it's types, it's characteristics and important roles; then the paper describes the situations of tourism commodity in some East Asia and Southeast Asia countries, concludes some successful practices and measurements for Beijing to study and adopt; in the third part, the paper describes detailedly the present situation of the development of tourism commodity in Beijing and discusses it's obstacles; based on the above theory and empirical study, the last part of the paper raises the main principles and strategies to develop the tourism commodity in Beijing, namely, government's support, innovations of tourism commodity, promote the market mechanical, etc. The paper also gives some ideas about how to develop the Olympic Official Licensed Product, too. The paper adopts theoretical study together with empirical research. In the empirical research, the paper uses site investigation and questionnaire so as to acquire more thuthful and detailed information.It has been a common view that China's tourism commodity developed relatively backward. This paper hopes by its studing to contribute to the enhancement of the competition of Beijing tourism commodity and the development of Beijing's tourism industry. In the meamwhile, the paper also hopes the strategies and practices stated in it can be studied and adopted by other regions.
