A kind of management theory usually suits for the corresponding environment. The same management theory or method combined with different circumstance will get different effect. So is the project management theory. The same project management theory used in different countries or combined with different national cultural will get different project management practice.This thesis adopted the questionnaire survey as the demonstration study way, and chose project management practice from both China and Canada as sample space, then compared project management practice under two different cultural backgrounds. This thesis did not adopt the traditional way to look management practice as the whole to study, but took project management practice into different parts and compared each part by designing different questionnaires.This thesis was divided in several parts, just as follows:In the first part, the comparison of project critical success factors was discussed. The questionnaire was designed in accordance with Pinto critical success factors model. Respondents were asked to choose the important degree of project critical success factors toward project success. Contrast the viewpoints about the critical factors of respondents in different countries.In the second part, the comparison of the quality of project human resource management was discussed. Project human resource management includes four processes. Each process has corresponding outputs. Let respondents choose the degree that they get the outputs. Compare the differences of project human resource management in different countries.In the third part, the comparison of project planning management was discussed. Each project management process has outputs of planning management. Let respondents choose the degree that they get the outputs. Compare the differences of project human resource management in different countries.In the forth part, the comparison of project management tools and techniques was discussed. List 30 tools and techniques that are specific to project management practice and let respondents choose 10 items that they use most frequently. Compare the differences about the use of project management tools and techniques in different countries.In the last part, an empirical study of project management practitioners coping with work stress was discussed in China.
